L’amplificazione mediante PCR consente di ottenere in vitro molto rapidamente la quantità di materiale genetico necessaria per le successive applicazioni. Tale metodo fu ideato nel 1983 da Kary B. Mullis il quale ottenne, per questo, il Premio Nobel per la chimica (1993).
Come è stata scoperta la PCR?
Durante l’anno 1977, Frederick Sanger ha identificato un DNA che ordina il metodo che comprende una DNA polimerasi, una mano di fondo ed i precursori del nucleotide, per cui era lui hanno assegnato il premio Nobel nel 1980. Così entro l’anno 1980, tutte le componenti per l’amplificazione di PCR erano pronte.
